Nazare opens the winter

Could be a good winter start.

Well autumn.Water is more warm than summer and swells starting to push.

Today with a small forecast of 5 feet/12sec+ period waves were solid 8 feet at Naza.

@ more coming next week!!!

Can not wait for it!

Lot of locals bouguies in the water but good vibe.

Feels like they respect when you paddle with than.

Might goback tomorrow as i will by a big truck by Nazare and for sure i will give a check there!

Liga Moche

Only made one heat at the portuguese nationals again.

Vaery sad to stay all day on the beach and loose.

But for sure if i could hear better the speaker saying the position in the end , things could be different.

As a competitor you always need a plan before the heat, and a bad heat for everyone , everything can happen.

I was making in the end and could give a think on block the others in the end , but could hear and lost on a last wave to my opponent.

Back home to family and is running now the Icon Ericeira bjj camp.(photo below)

Home teaching : come visit Sao Juliao

new European tour

The new european tour kick off today.
I ve been talking to many surfers for years that with the level we have in europe righ now,we should start a 

New european tour.
ASP had close their European Professional tour to crow their champ taking points from international contests.
European amateurs federations got together and with their european fedeation start this new thing that start today
At viana do Castelo, north of Portugal.
I hope every big name will come more and more and we could start a very solid tour .
I am full no it!
This first stop waves were amazing (check line up photo), the level really high with some top guys that are on wqs now .
I will try my best on next stop at Marroc!

Nic Von Rupp best freesurf of Europe?

I was Think all what this kid had been done and i will give Nic the tittle of best tube rider of europe right now.Cause he is in Barrels everywhere at our european  winter, he just won an International contest in Mex (the Pawa contest.I was invited but i am giving surfleassons to pay my bills and keep charging winter time).But thinking better is hard to compare him ,yet, to Jeremy Flores who did win one Pipe master and Michel Bourez who is Tahitian barrel grow. i still Think he could be the best soon and is nice to see kids like him ripping.

11,2 feet ready for winter

I start to work with shaper Rob Vaughan 2,5 years ago when I'd Signe with Billabong .
We start on 9 feet boards as Rob surfs a lot at La Nord, French big wave beach break.
After the first board we start to change things.We start  between 21 1/2 to 21 3/4 and 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 thick.
We figure out seen Shane Dorian and Fletcher s boards that rocker was almost flat and we start to make like that.
Couple kilos more heavier between 12 to 18 kg and one thing that for me came together was Rob rails.But hard to explain , I could say a double edge rail.
Can't wait to try it at Belharra, Nazare and new wave Montanhas!!!
Thanks for the work Rob and I will be very sad to the end of the contract for 2014. More than all for the work we d been doing together !!!

They do not deserve what happen on that train disaster .
All my heart with familys there!
My brother in law just bring the local journal as they are visiting us down here at Sao Juliao, Ericeira and i was shock reading the news.

When i d live in Lanzarote i met photographer Gines Diaz.

I went

for a trip from France to Portugal passing by Galicia with him and at Galicia a was all piss with him cause he could not make the outside as he said he was not able to make it the swim.

He went back home and since he is beeing training hard and now is a true sport guy.

I am really proud of him!

we ere around 15 i think.
I do not know.
such a long time ago.
I saw him couples years ago in Brazil and he came by my house.
We were doing one family barbecue and he tripped.
Was around 30 peoples and many long old storys.

one really important thing he said and i totally say is right , is about the mental part.

I could tell the physical, but every one who does sport can have a good physical ready ,but on bjj your head get stronger.

I fell a lot that on big surf.Is big i fell like i am ready in my mind.

I can tell that when i saw it i was kind a piss.why i was not taking off?

And i remember after that i almost eat that one and last second back off a bit.

This is Daniel's daughter Mariana.Really nice girls and really cool family.
