Portugal big surf 3 spots

we first surf at Nazaré,and decided to find a spot  where we could be able to surf not needing the pwc as a safety in every single wave.
As Alex Botelho said, the work you do in Nazare is not worth the 2/3 waves you surf.
I decied only comebak there with a big team (as Shane's visit day).
Alentejo for me will be the next big wave surf of Europe.
It is far outside and when we got there( best tide and wind) , was big and perfect and only 10/12 feet 14/15 sec.

Ericeira harbour

As i said before i do not think will be ever one international wave.

But how fun is paddle by the harbour and when you almost there a big set come wash you and you need try all over again.

I call this training..

With big board, paddling a lot and have fun going straight.

wy straight, cause if you make the wave and  a big set comes will be a hard time and even a deadly moment.As the rocks the other side of the harbour will not smile for you when you reach that place.

Alentejo big surf.Paddle

 First of all big thanks to the locals.
The good vibe they are put on this waves to be ridden s amazing!!
Special thanks to my close friend Pedro Buga who was tell me about this wave since we went to a trip up to France to watch the world tour contest.He was always saying , let s check this wave down south!

Freaking guy grew up on a lake and got a giant bomb at Nazare the day before!

We got there a bit late and wind turns, making the wave all weird.As breaks far out, make me remind Belharra.

Alex Botelho always happy bout a big wave and stoked.Cause after a crazy not calm session at Nazare this waves was like a funny playground.

First wave that came trought, i d paddle to deep and just ate me in the middle of the take off. When i pop up Alex came back from his ride ask me if i was all right and tell me : _ you almost made it,hahahahat
Some take off was lots of fun as the wind came couples bumps on the wave.some take of was so much fun, that one i almost felt and my hand touch the water stabilizing it.
 Tom Buttler was with us doing security at both sessions, got one nice wipeout at this one but jsut pull out 4 teeth and wasn t feeling in shape.

Back in the days stories of surfers traffic with their boards were often and even says all the big surf companies were build from that. After that wipeout (side photo), i got a bit worry and out of confidence for the next waves.

Air came under the board and i free fall.

After see Shane Dorian board, talk to Danilo Couto i got my own knowledge and i am trying this crazy thing of put leds in the board.I first put the board under my arms(As Danilo told how to do it), and felt where is the middle point.

Did some measures..

My friend from Jobsite surfboards and local boy from Sao Juliao(and i call him the god father), did the whole work for me, open rows and .

fix inside it.

Next thing will be a painting tomorrow with my daughter with my new colours..

As a fren-brazilian surf i d choose this colours for my boards..

Uma never will let me painting by myself!

Surfline on European winter review

I did not call the winter off yet, as swell still here, but i think all the visit we have on the biggest days from couple of the best big wave riders helped to push and see waves with different eyes.
