Bells contest

Always really good fun to watch a world tour contest.
How good surfers are and how much the level gets high with the competition are thing that make me be focus in every single wave they surf.
I went to compete there years ago.
Bells has an own magic.
Every surf wakes up dark time.
Normally contest start early.
I had stay on legend shaper Maurice Cole's house .
He wakes up before every one else , cause he likes to shape around 4 am or before.
Living a totally different day time but waking me up to wake up early too.
Always all surfers already waiting for the sunshine.
Back to this year contest.
I saw many heats and many post saying Fanning lost to wilson.
Hard call.
Fanning surfs really fast and every turn on right spot.
Julian showed a different line.
I will not be on judges skin.
For sure. if was on old head judge hand, Perry, Julian will win.
He always push the different way you surf the wave.
He always said to surfers make something that the judges are not expecting.
On this case, most of Fanning turns are more or less expected.
Fanning is always my favorite.
Cause i like how he surfs.
But i am not a judge.

Arms and line

 When i started to surf, all that i care was destroy the wave and make rad moves on the lip.
Nowadays, every time i take off, i first look the wave and try to make a cool line and most of this change came with mature.
Not sure if is a good change for competition.
I've been seen some crazy airs and crazy turns on tour now.
One thing i am sure.I am happy with my line on and i am not competing anymore.
About the arms, is the most important thing for the flow and for make a good line. Clean one.
Maybe this can be a default,cause you do a same turn couple times in the wave.But make some harmony and in my eyes is beautiful to watch.

Mar sem fim - Açores

Article at local Azores journal. couples huge spots to surf there.

Need to published this local web article too. Sounds like many are not happy with us there. 

Just want to make sure and leave clear here that is we said we did surf waves for the first time or we are surfing waves that nobody surf, is a mistake from the media.

What we want to say is that, we want to surf big waves in Azores and with anyone who are keen to do it.

We are looking for waves that not many surfers are keen to surf and those ones who are , please, let' s go together, cause they are not a easy spots to ride.

I am not the organiser of this, but as a invited surfer , what i saw and feel is that , they really want to help local surfer to surf all tho e outer reefs.

Venho deixar aqui meu comentario sobre o articlo, porque achoq ue esta tendo uma fata de comunicação.
As ondas que o projeto "Mar sem fim" está tentanod surfar, realmente são ondas não surfadas ou pouco surfadas.E os surfistas que a surfam, porfavor, digam algo que precisamos de mais pessoal para surfa-las , porque não são ondas para brincar.
eu não me lembro diretio dos nomes todos, mas com certeza o pico da ganza não entra no nosso foco e sim o outsidereef la fora.
Quem gostar da ideia de surfar ondas grandes conosco, ach oque o projeto, que tambem sou convidado, vai estar aberto e muito contente de ter a participação de locais.
A comunidade do surf de onda grande ee muito redusida, eu mesmo conheço poucos no continente que realmente querem surfar essas ondas e se há surfistas que realmente querem ,vamos nessa!!!

Why i like Galicia?

I really like Galicia.The florest that finich in the water.The sea food barnecles with a nice white wine.

And the best, the slabs.

Most of them, radical.One rock, is all about one rock, not reef. Suck on the rock and finish just after the rock ends. why i like if is so short?Cause most of the time, you can not paddle,..goes to fast and dry.

When you town-in , you leave the rope, just before the double up, jump a dry part and even sometime a rock and than, paradise view!

Can wait to go back there!

Fisrt of all, thanks to Joao de Macedo(portuguese most knowed big wave rider), to think about my name for this project.
Something new , that all big wave riders in the world will be exited with.
why, cause all new spots, some not even surfed before, or not on the local surfers comum list and with a big potencial.
We did surf some outer reefs in between storms and was already a good session, but i really can imagine , how will be on a perect condition(swell, wind, tides).
We back there soon for more.

A week in Lanzarote

Had some amazing days at Lanzarote this week.
Call my two friends from Germany and Suisse to come, Sebastian Steudtner and Valentin Rossi(photo bellow).
We got there and waves were giant, but we couldn't get the outer reef we expected to surf, as is a long walk and paddle.
Might need to bring the jetski there, as mine was broke after many month not using it.
We surf a lot San Juan(video bellow), and La Santa.
Had one great waves in this spot, barrel, carve and air..felt like a grom..

I did wrote about Peniche the day after Hercules hit.This is a bit of what happen the first day, the big monday.

What we were trying to do was have bigger pwc than my 2 strokes.

But We will go through this situation buying a big pwc and we know already how to have all the logistic done.

But even if we could had the pwc that afternoon, not sure we had could be able to ride a giant storm monster and more than that 17:10 in the afternoon with a sunset at 17:30.

Weekend between France and Spain

My plans was go to the Hossegor contest with my friends and than go try Belharra paddle next day, last  sunday..
Things start to change when my first wave at "la Nord Hossegor" i did a crazy wipe out on the take off(could be one of my best barrels in France wave if i made it).The wave suck me back and trough me right to the sand on my butt.
Stretching my legs.

I did the heat and qualifing to the final, but could not put my wetsuit without pain, and decided not to go.
Went to Francois Liets house(Billabong adventure man and friend ), and as we was checking the forecast to Belharra i received a email from Gary Linden to compete at the Punta Galea contest.
I decide to go there and pass Belharra, even with could be one of the best paddle session ever.
Slept really bad with a lots of pain in my hind quarters , junction to the body and start to get the road taking pain killers pills.
I arrived to the contest dark still and twiggy Baker.
He definitely line up as fast as every one else the hard Punta Galea Line up, getting many waves every heat.
My side , i only get one and lost my board.
Congrats to Twiggy!

First part Basque country

Had an amazing weekend at french basque country side.Hendaie;

Avalanche.Used to live there a couples years ago and for 4/5 year..

Very happy to see all my friends in the water and get some funny ones..some straight one too to training for big days..

Hendaie beach, where my close friend David lives.We did a crazy running one night for 45 min that really made me tired.

I am in Ericeira now, but going back tomorrow there to surf La nord big wave contest , Belharra and some other spots after that..
